No jargon. No acronym soup. Just clear answers to the things business owners actually want to know about their digital presence.

The Basics

If you are wondering what any of this actually means

What even is digital marketing?+

Digital marketing is any activity that promotes your business online. That includes your website, how you show up in Google searches, your social media presence, online reviews, and increasingly - whether AI tools recommend you when people ask for local recommendations. Think of it as word of mouth, but for the internet.

Do I actually need a website? I have a Facebook page.+

Yes. A Facebook page is rented space - you do not own it, Facebook decides who sees it, and if the platform changes its rules tomorrow your presence could disappear overnight.

A website is yours. It shows up in Google searches, works 24 hours a day, and gives customers a professional first impression you actually control. Most customers will search for your business online before visiting. If there is nothing to find, many of them will not come.

My business has been going for 20 years on word of mouth. Why change now?+

Word of mouth is powerful - but it has a ceiling. The customers who find you through recommendations are great, but tourists visiting Anglesey do not have a local friend to ask. They search online. They ask ChatGPT. They look at Google Maps.

A digital presence does not replace word of mouth - it amplifies it. When a happy customer recommends you, the next thing their friend does is Google you. You want something to find.

Is this just for tourist-facing businesses?+

Not at all. Whether you are a trades business, a restaurant, a retailer or a service provider, your customers are searching online before they call or visit. Local SEO and a solid website help any business get found by the right people at the right time.

SEO

Search Engine Optimisation - what it is and why it matters

What is SEO?+

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It is the process of making your website more likely to appear in Google search results when people search for things related to your business. If someone types "best pub in Anglesey" or "plumber near Menai Bridge", SEO is what determines whether you show up or not.

It is not a one-time thing - it is an ongoing process of improving your site, your content and your online presence so Google trusts and ranks you higher over time.

Why is my business not showing up on Google?+

Usually one of three reasons: your website has not been set up with local search in mind, your Google Business Profile is incomplete or missing entirely, or your site has technical issues that stop Google from reading it properly. All three are fixable - and fixing them can make a significant difference quickly.

What is a Google Business Profile and do I need one?+

A Google Business Profile is the box that appears on the right side of Google when someone searches your business name - it shows your address, phone number, opening hours, photos and reviews. It is free to set up and critically important for local businesses.

If yours is missing or out of date, you are losing customers to competitors who have theirs sorted. It is one of the most impactful things you can fix.

How long does SEO take to work?+

Honest answer: it depends. Some quick wins - like fixing your Google Business Profile or resolving technical errors - can make a difference within weeks. Ranking improvements for competitive search terms typically take three to six months of consistent work. It is not instant, but it compounds over time. The sooner you start, the sooner it pays off.

Can you guarantee a number one ranking on Google?+

No - and anyone who says they can is lying to you. Google's algorithm is not something any agency can control. What we can do is follow best practices consistently, make targeted improvements and track real progress over time. We will always be transparent about what is realistic.

AEO & AI Search

The new frontier - getting found by AI

What is AEO?+

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimisation. Where SEO gets you found on Google's list of links, AEO gets your business recommended directly by AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews when people ask conversational questions.

Instead of a list of ten blue links, these tools give a direct answer - and they name specific businesses. AEO is about making sure yours is one of them.

Do tourists actually use ChatGPT to find places to visit?+

Yes - and the number is growing fast. Searches like "best places to eat on Anglesey", "hidden gems in North Wales" and "what to do in Menai Bridge this weekend" are increasingly being asked to AI tools rather than typed into Google. The businesses that show up in those AI answers get the visit. The ones that do not get skipped over.

How does an AI tool decide which businesses to recommend?+

AI tools pull from publicly available information - your website content, your Google Business Profile, online reviews, mentions in local guides and directories, and structured data on your site. The more clearly and consistently your business is described across these sources, the more likely an AI is to surface you in a relevant answer.

AEO is about making that information as clear, accurate and comprehensive as possible.

Is AEO different from SEO or do I need both?+

They overlap but are not the same. Good SEO creates a solid foundation that helps with AEO - but AEO goes further. It involves structuring your content to answer specific questions, using schema markup so AI can understand your business, and ensuring your information is consistent across every platform that AI tools reference.

For businesses targeting tourists or customers who use AI tools regularly, both matter. We can advise on the right balance for your situation.

My business is small. Is AEO really relevant to me?+

If anything, it is more relevant. Large brands already have extensive online presence and will be referenced by AI regardless. Small local businesses are the ones that risk being invisible - and AEO is currently one of the few areas where a small business can get ahead of larger competitors if they move early. The window to act before this becomes mainstream is right now.

Working with Bridge Digital

What to expect when you work with us

How much does a website cost?+

Our website builds start from £300 for a clean, mobile-optimised site with SEO foundations built in. The final cost depends on the size and complexity of what you need - we will always give you a clear, fixed price before any work begins. No surprises.

Ongoing support retainers start from £75 per month and cover hosting, maintenance and updates.

How long does it take?+

A typical website build takes two to four weeks from sign-off to launch. SEO and AEO work is ongoing - you will start seeing early results within the first month but the real gains build over three to six months. We will always set clear expectations at the start.

No. We do not believe in locking clients in. Website builds are a one-off project with clear deliverables. Retainers run monthly and can be cancelled with reasonable notice. We want to keep your business because we are delivering results - not because of a contract.

I am not very technical. Will I be able to keep up?+

Absolutely. We deliberately avoid jargon and will always explain things in plain English. You do not need to understand how any of this works - that is our job. You just need to understand what it means for your business, and we will make sure you always do.
